Drastic differences between sites
Played a couple of hours last night on Pacific and Hollywood (On-Game). The difference between the two was quite stark.
The Pacific players were very loose-passive across several tables (6 max). Statistics like 75-8 (VPIP-PFR) were common, and the table average VPIP was usually over 60. At On-game however (5 max tables), there were a number of tight-aggressive players, with stats like 23-18. I did manage to find a couple of fish at On-Game - one was running at about 99-5, but played very aggressively postflop.
In the end, Pacific ran very good and Hollywood ran very bad, which is not that surprising given the stats. Roughly +40BB at Pacific, and -30BB at Hollywood so it wasn't a total disaster, and I got through a fair bit of the PSO Hollywood bonus requirements and also nearly finished the points requirements for this months Pacific freerolls.

The most incredible thing I've seen in online poker
This hand took place on William Hill last night. I've never seen anything like it. Both players were loose maniacs, but even that did not explain what took place...

Seems like an expensive way to give money to your mate. Raising once with 99 on the river there is crazy let alone eight times. And it it were normal poker, surely the nut flush is going to start worrying about boats and quads at some point?

A good run, and finished the Captain Cook bonus
I've been on a good heater the last few days. I finished the Captain Cook bonus ($220 all up), and improved the balance there by a further $150 in the process (still slightly down on play but much better than it was). I'm up on William Hill on top of the $50 bonus, and I'm up $50 on Betsson having completed the 100 points for a free Poker Office license.
All up, I reckon that takes my balance up over $1500 for the first time.
I have been trying out Holdem Manager for tracking and HUD the last few days. It looks very, very good so far. I like PokerTracker3, but it is extraordinarily frustrating waiting for them to add the poker rooms (including Microgaming and Cryptologic) that they have been promising for more than 6 months. PokerOffice (for which I should have a free license via Betsson) is also pretty good, and comprehensive in it's coverage but seems to have an unusual selection of stats by default and doesn't look as comprehensive as PT or HM. PokerOffice gives you outs and pot odds on the current hand on top of the normal HUD stats, but I don't find that particularly useful. The other reason I prefer HM and PT is that they use Postgresql, meaning you can store your database on the network and if you have multiple clients they can all share the same database.
All up, I reckon that takes my balance up over $1500 for the first time.

Goals for September
I set myself the following goals for September, some of which are completed already:
- Finish the Captain Cook bonus (only 100 raked hands to go)
- Earn the $50 William Hill Bonus (almost done)
- Earn a free Poker Office license through Betsson (done)
- Earn enough points on Pacific to get into the $5k monthly freeroll and the $15k EPT London qualifier (I messed up the freeroll quals last month). I probably need to play about 40FPPs to do this.
- Play one other bonus - perhaps the Hollywood bonus on PSO.
- Play less poker overall. To be honest, I've been playing a bit obsessively recently and I need to step back a little bit. It will help when the Captain Cook bonus is done (it's taken longer than I expected). An hour or two three or four days a week is enough.

Mini-heater
Don't you just love those little mini-heaters where you win every hand?
I just had a 5 minute, 11 hand heater on CC, winning 9 out of the 11. Admittedly it was only 3 handed play, but it was still pretty good. The funny thing is that when they fold the first couple of hands under heavy pressure, you get pinned as a maniac and get great value when the hands keep coming.
Here's how it played out:
Hand 1: 87o checked the BB, flopped an OESD. Bet flop and turn and rivered the straight (won without showing).
Hand 2: K2o. Raised PF (SB). Flopped 2 pair, turned a boat, rivered quad 2's :) won without showdown.
Now I'm sure my opps think I'm a maniac. I've bet every street so far.
Hand 3: QQ (Eureka): Raise PF. Flop 993. PF caller bets, I raise. Turn T: bet, raise, call. River J: Bet, raise call. He mucks his KT. Thankyou table image :)
Hand 4: T4s: Call in the BB (raise from SB). Flop a pair of 4's, turn 2 pair, win without showdown.
Hand 5: K8o: Raise and win PF.
Hands 6 and 7: Ruin my table image by folding PF (w 53) and on the turn (w K3 missed).
Hand 8: 45s: Raise PF (getting cheeky now). Flop a flush draw and take it down.
Hand 9: AJ: win PF.
Hand 10: K5: win PF.
Hand 11: K2: call raise (from SB) in the BB. Flop trip kings. Check/call flop, check/raise turn, win uncontested.
They have had enough and run away... Don't blame them :)

In the end, a disappointing result. Mid-month, I was running hot at William Hill and Party and by the end I had pissed it all away. Bottom line is I'm running like a dog on Microgaming. Once I'm finished that Captain Cook bonus (which is only 200 raked hands away), I'm going to steer clear except for the juiciest bonuses.
I have also bought into Betsson in order to qualify a free license for Poker Office (easy at 100 points). I am testing Poker Office, Poker Tracker and Holdem Manager. HM actually looks very good once I get the HUD working. PT3 is very nice, but development has stalled for the last six months, and it still doesn't support half the sites that PT2 does. PO has a slightly funny set of statistics, and seems a bit flaky under Vista.
